Just off the beautiful San Juan Skyway and surrounded by the majestic San Juan mountain range, Mancos is southwest Colorado's hot spot for excellent fishing and camping. Located 12 miles from Mesa Verde National Park, the reservoir at Mancos State Park is a beautiful setting. Pleasant climate, year-round trout fishing and a campground in a mature Ponderosa pine forest combine to create an outdoor haven that can't be beat.

The area is rich in western history, especially that of the Ancestral Puebloans whose ruins are preserved and displayed at the nearby Anasazi Heritage Center, a museum in Dolores, approximately 20 miles northwest of Mancos. The Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge railroad in nearby Durango -- 27 miles east of Mancos -- offers visitors a scenic trip through remote wilderness areas of the San Juan National Forest.

Mancos State Park, 42545 County Road North, Mancos Colorado 81328; 970-533-7065 (year round); 970-533-7065 (summer only).
