Cadwell Outfitters: Day Rides & Overnight Horse Pack Trips850-819-9355
You will step back in time, as you ride horseback into the wilderness, experiencing the majestic scenery of the trails of the past that were ridden by the Ute Indians and later, trappers, miners, and cowboys. The La Garita Wilderness is a vast wild area only accessible by horse, mule or hiking You will have opportunities to photograph the native wildlife (elk, moose, mule deer, rocky mountain sheep) on the ride to the historic long abandoned 1890's mining camp. Spring Creek, which runs through the valley, is abundant with trout. Great for families with kids. Day ride rates are $50 for two hours, $70 for a half day and $100 for full day. Eight hours is considered a full day. Pack trips include rustic but comfortable lodge for folks who want to get into the wilderness but don't want to rough it with showers, and propane heat. No electricity. Also there is an abandoned 1890's mining camp on site to explore. Overnight pack trips are a minimum of 2 days starting at $200/day. This price also includes the pack horses needed for your gear, your stay in the lodge and fishing on private ponds and streams.
